During the Gaza-Israel war in May of this year, social media was awash with anti-Israel campaigners pushing for action to be taken against Israel. This was mainly done by those associated with the BDS movement which is a proudly anti-Zionist organization and do not believe in the legitimacy of a Jewish state in the land of Israel.
Once such company targeted for their commercial links with Israel was Ben and Jerry’s, which is popular in Israel and currently holds between 12-13% of the Israeli ice-cream market.
Activists on social media vowed to stop buying from Ben and Jerry’s until they joined the BDS fight against the Jewish State. Ben and Jerry’s Twitter account, which normally tweets a least once a day, suddenly went quiet and didn’t tweet again from May 18th until they tweeted to announce that they would end all sales of ice cream within the “Occupied Palestinian Territory” on July 19th to the delight of the BDS mob.
Ben and Jerry’s then had to answer accusations of anti-Semitism and put a statement up on their website saying that their decision was “not a rejection of Israel” but merely “a rejection of Israeli policy, which perpetuates an illegal occupation that is a barrier to peace and violates the basic human rights of the Palestinian people”. They also point to the fact that their policy isn’t against all of Israel, but only against Israel’s presence in the West Bank – which biblically is known as the mountains of Israel.
On the face of it, Israel losing an ice cream brand is no big deal. Economically the impact will be inconsequential. However, the spirit behind this decision is of great interest to Bible believers.
In Ezekiel 38 we find that the nations that come against Israel are specifically targeting the mountains of Israel.
8 After many days thou [Gog] shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
Through inspiration Ezekiel wrote these prophecies over 2,000 years ago, and so how remarkable is it that today, in the latter years, the world has divided the land of Israel, and distinguishes between the mountains of Israel and the rest of the State of Israel. How could Ezekiel have known, so many years ago, that the land would be divided in this way? He could have said that the nations would come against the plains of Israel, the valleys of Israel or even the whole land of Israel, but no, Ezekiel tells us that in the latter years the world will unite against the mountains of Israel. This border between “Israel proper” and the West Bank is one of the few borders in the Middle East that wasn’t drawn by Europeans on a map, it only came into existence in 1948 after the Israeli War of Independence – but it was written about in scripture 2,000 years before.
And why is it that Ben and Jerry’s are targeting this area of Israel? Well, they tell us in their own statement – it is because they believe “Israel violates the basic human rights of the Palestinian people”. It is humanism: the frog spirit’s false promise of freedom.
What do we read in Revelation 16.
12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.
13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
And so what we see in the world today, is this spirit of Humanism, gathering the world together against the mountains of Israel for the great battle of Armageddon.
On their website BDS claim to be “A Global Movement” and they seek to unite people around the world against Israel.
These things should be of no surprise to Bible believers, for it has been written in the scriptures long ago, but should instead be a warning to us all because back in Revelation 16, in the very next verse we read:
15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.
17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.
18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.
So let us continue to watch and keep our garments, so we are not found unprepared at the time of Christ’s return.
