The descovery this week of a plot to assassinate the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to the united states has revealed the divisions that exist in the "Arab" or Islamic world which coincide with divisions the Bible predicts for the latter days.

Welcome to the Bible in the News.

When the FBI uncovered a plot to assassinate the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to the United States this week, it also uncovered the division in the “Arab world”. The FBI release stated:

Two individuals have been charged in New York for their alleged participation in a plot directed by elements of the Iranian government to murder the Saudi Ambassador to the United States with explosives while the Ambassador was in the United States.

A criminal complaint filed today in the Southern District of New York charges Manssor Arbabsiar, a 56-year-old naturalized U.S. citizen holding both Iranian and U.S. passports, and Gholam Shakuri, an Iran-based member of Iran’s Qods Force, which is a special  operations unit of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that is said to sponsor and promote terrorist activities abroad.

Both defendants are charged with conspiracy to murder a foreign official; conspiracy to engage in foreign travel and use of interstate and foreign commerce facilities in the commission of murder-for-hire; conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction (explosives); and conspiracy to commit an act of international terrorism transcending national boundaries. Arbabsiar is further charged with an additional count of foreign travel and use of interstate and foreign commerce facilities in the commission of murder-for-hire.

What this reveals is a deep division in the Islamic world. These divisions are deepening and have been highlighted by the so-called “Arab Spring”. Some of the victims of the Arab Spring have been “client states” of Russia, namely Libya and Syria.

The concept of a united Islamic world, reviving the glory of the Ottoman Empire has evaporated. The scriptures have long spoken of the drying up of the River Euphrates, the symbol of the Islamic power that overran the river Euphrates and put an end to the Byzantine Empire hundreds of years ago.

The overflowing of the river Euphrates was outlined in the prophetic word in Revelation chapters 9:

And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. (Revelation 9:13–15)

This “power of the Euphrates” overflowed the Middle East for a period of time, but would be “dried up” during the judgments of the 6th Vial:

And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.  (Revelation 16:12)

This took place leading up to and during the First World War when the Ottoman Turks joined Germany, and became the enemy of Britain and its allies. Britain, New Zealand and Australian forces under angelic ministration pushed the Ottoman Turks back to Turkey, and in its place left pools of Arab nationalism.

The Arab/Islamic nations of the Middle East united against Israel once the state was proclaimed in1948 and in four regional wars that followed has tried to push Israel into the sea.

The Islamic powers were to be “dried up, that the way of the kings of the suns rising might be prepared”. They are not going to succeed in pushing Israel into the sea. In fact, the picture of the latter days is that of a divided Islamic world with Iran, Libya, Syria and Iraq on one side of the divide, and Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and others on the other side of the divide.

Ezekiel 38 speaks of “Perisa (Iran), Ethiopia, and Libya” being with Russia, the prince of Rosh and the European forces of Gomer and Magog (v4-5). When the invasion takes place they, the Libyans and Ethiopians, march with the King of the North, while Egypt becomes a target, and “Edom, Moab and the chief of the children of Ammon (Geographical Jordan)” are delivered (Daniel 11:42-43). In the camp of Egypt and Jordan, and allied with the “king of the south,” also called the Merchants of Tarshish, are “Sheba and Dedan” of Ezekiel 38:13.

The assassination attempt by Iran of the Saudi Arabian Ambassador, on US soil furthers the positioning of the pawns on the Middle Easter chessboard to match the picture painted by the prophets.  America and Saudi Arabia are again united against a common foe, just like America was with Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in the wake of the First Gulf War. Saudi Arabia is very nervous of the revolutions ripping through the Middle East, and is quietly looking to America’s protection from the influences currently shaking the area. The fact Iran’s proxy agents have plotted to assassinate the Saudi Ambassador on US welds the Saudis and Americans closer together, as described by the prophets.

Not only this, but Israel has been tied in as a target. CNN reported:

The Saudi ambassador was not the only intended target, U.S. officials said. The suspects also discussed attacking Israeli and Saudi embassies in Washington and possibly Buenos Aires, Argentina, a senior U.S. official said.

Iran sees Israel as an ally of Saudi Arabia, and whether the Saudi’s would like to acknowledge it or not, they will become further tied together in the interest of “trade”, as it is the Merchants of Tarshish with Shebe and Dedan who protest Israel’s invasion by Russia in the latter day.

So as we see watch the headlines, let us open and our eyes and realize that that we are watching “the Bible in the News”. This has been Jonathan Bowen joining you.
