This week the Middle East has been focused on the so-called prisoner exchange between Israel and the terrorist organization Hezbollah--but aren't prisoners supposed to be alive? Israel received two dead bodies in exchange for some living terrorists including a notorious one, Samir Kuntar. Israel National News gives us the background on this beast:
"Samir Kuntar crushed the skull of a four-year-old girl and killed her father along with an off-duty policeman in 1979. He has been lionized in the Arab world as a hero for doing so, and respected as a martyr for the nearly three decades he spent in Israeli prisons."

If the divine law of Moses was observed in the land of Israel today this despicable murderer would never have been granted freedom, now this freedom will only be used to perpetrate further attacks and blood shed, for as a dog returns to it's vomit so does a fool to his folly (Proverbs 26:11). Today there is no justice in the land of Israel and there will not be until the Great King of Righteousness reigns in Zion: "Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this." (Isaiah 9:7) However today the wicked rule and as says the proverb: "when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."

Hezbollah is a proxy of Iran. Iran is the territory of the biblical Persia. Persia is one of those nations that is prophesied to be with the confederacy of Gog in Ezekiel 38:5,6; a confederacy from the uttermost parts of the north with it's centers of power in Russia, Germany and the Vatican. The prophet Ezekiel commands in verse 7: "Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them." The verb here "prepare" means: "to set up, establish, strengthen, to prepare, make ready". Yahweh through the prophet is commanding Gog to set up, establish and prepare his image empire. But not only is Gog to be prepared but all his company is to be prepared and Gog is to be a guard to them.

Just this week Iran and Russia have signed a major oil deal as reported by the Jerusalem Post on July 14th. The giant Russian Government ran company Gazprom's Chief Executive met last Sunday with Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to sign an agreement for developing Iranian oil and gas fields. The Jerusalem Post went on to report that: "The accord also includes the future formation of a joint company between the two countries, for cooperation in oil and gas." Here we see Russia and Iran working very closely together--just what we would expect from Bible prophecy! Further we see Iran's proxy Hezbollah engaging in terrorism against the Jewish state and if we have any doubts as to whether Russia sanctions this type of activity from it's ally, just recall that it was Russia who first reached out to Hamas when the Palestinian Arabs elected them and invited these terrorist leaders for a state visit! Today we see Russia preparing it's financial and military might and guarding allies such as Iran. Russia has the same antisemitic core now as a century ago when they perpetrated the pogroms against the Jews in exile on their soil. It is this antisemitic nation that will be destroyed when it invades the land of Israel.

Today Israel is in a state of weakness as was clearly seen in this so-called prisoner swap. However, this will not always be the case. While the Jewish people have fallen under the curse of the law, the time is fast approaching when they will fall under the blessings of that law which are yet to be fulfilled. One of these blessings is recorded in Deuteronomy 28:13: "And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them."

The truth is that Israel will keep the commandments of the law and they will prosper. However, today the nation is like a valley full of lifeless dry bones, they are as it were in prison, they are in the pit which is a symbol of death, as writes the Psalmist in Psalm 30:3: "O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit." Yet the word of God will enter into these bones and they will stand upon their feet as an exceeding great army! (Ezekiel 37:10) This will be the day when the prophet speaks to them and they hear the word of Yahweh. They will realize that one of their own has been down into the pit--the dry pit without water and redeemed the nation. Paul pointed this out in his preaching to those in Antioch in Pisidia: "Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus." The Apostle Peter also in Acts 5:31: "Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins." Jesus died to redeem the nation of Israel and by the blood of his covenant he will send forth the prisoners out of the pit: "As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water. Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare that I will render double unto thee; When I have bent Judah for me, filled the bow with Ephraim, and raised up thy sons, O Zion, against thy sons, O Greece, and made thee as the sword of a mighty man." (Zechariah 9:11-13)

All the prisoners of Zion will emerge from the pit without water. It will not be by negotiation with terrorists, but by the hand of the redeemer who went himself into the pit: "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. (Zechariah 9:9)

"Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul. While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being. Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God: Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is : which keepeth truth for ever: Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners: The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous: The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down. The LORD shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the LORD." (Psalm 146)
