Fall of a terrorist, the elusive mass-murderer Mughniyeh meets his death, bringing the mid-east to the brink of war once again, American presidential race candidate Obama says: "Yes, we can heal this nation" and a Man kills 5 and himself at a northern Illinois University. This is David Billington with the Bible in the News.
In the last century mankind has mastered terrorism to deadly effect. Humanists have proposed that the human race can heal themselves. Society has become completely corrupt, filled with broken families, street violence, recreational mind altering drugs, alcoholism, rape and pornography, meanwhile the masses watch all this vice on television, internet and video games for entertainment. The earth is filled with violence and corruption, just like the days of Noah: "The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth." God's way is the way to the tree of life, guarded, kept or preserved after the fall of Adam by the Cherubim. Had God wished he could have easily destroyed the tree of life, but instead he preserved it and kept a way to redemption for mankind. By the time of Noah the way to life, or the knowledge of the truth of the gospel was corrupted beyond recognition because of a lack of separation from the world. Those in the truth married those in the way of Cain and it was a disaster. Their children ended up having a form of godliness, but lacking the power of the gospel which left their beliefs insipid and useless. Today society has turned its back on the Bible and they cannot be healed. Most will not know until judgment comes.

"But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." (Matthew 24:37-39)

Paul the Apostle in his second letter to his "dearly beloved son" Timothy, gives a prophecy concerning the last days, which is such an accurate depiction of society today that it is evidence for Bible truth:

"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away."

In Noah's day the truth of God was turned into a lie. So it is in ours. The fruits of the great Roman church and their celibate priesthood can be seen by all. The devastating effect of the feminist and humanist movements on the family are starkly evident. The letter to the Romans 1:25-32, has a fitting description of our society:

"Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."

Mankind may say: "Yes, we can heal this world". However, anyone can see that mankind has made a terrible mess of this planet. The truth that should have been passed down from generation to generation by the descendants of Noah has not, every time the message is revived by God, it is in a short time corrupted, lost and replaced with palatable myth and fantasy. In the Bible the prophet Jeremiah in chapter 10:23 wrote: "O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps." How apt are these words to society today. A campaign slogan of "Yes, we can heal this nation" appeals to the pride of the flesh, but the reality will be very different.

Yet it will not always be like this. Justice will be done as we saw this week in the death of Imad Mughniyeh. The National Post reported:

"Car bombings were Imad Mughniyeh's specialty. During his quarter-century as a master terrorist, he sent explosive-laden vehicles to blow up embassies, military barracks and even a community centre. So it was perhaps only fitting that when he met his demise in Damascus it was in a sudden concussive burst of gas and flames - a bomb planted in a parked Mitsubishi Pajero."

As it is written in the book of Revelation 13:10: "He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints." So we can have faith and patience: "Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead." (Acts 17:31)

The world will be healed when the law will go forth from Zion and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. Come back next week God willing to www.bibleinthenews.com as we earnestly watch for the return of Chirst.
